Our Story
The Beginning:
I LIVE INSPIRED was born after Rob Foster completed 28 days at Father Martin's Ashley Treatment Center in April, 2006. It is a common practice to get phone numbers of friends and acquaintances in treatment to stay in touch when everyone goes their separate ways. KC Norris, one such friend, wound up in Del Ray, Florida while Rob was in Northern Virginia. He began sending Rob, among others, a text message every morning with a recovery theme. These messages often called for some sort of small step to be taken to support one's recovery.
Rob loved the inspirational messages because they spoke to him and strengthened his sense of inclusion in a larger community. He began forwarding them on to other friends from treatment. These people in turn gave him the phone numbers of their friends and asked him to "pass on" these inspirational messages.
Our Story :
When Rob explained the phenomenon to his high school friend Chris Deutsch, Chris asked to receive the messages also. Chris is not in recovery, but the messages often inspired him anyway. At first, they wondered if other groups with a common desire to grow could be united in daily change too. Soon after, sure that every person and community could live inspired, they began contacting inspirational authors who wrote for specific communities. They asked these authors to create short daily messages that were thought-provoking calls to action. Chris proposed the idea of developing a web site where each of these communities could interact with each other, share their stories of inspiration, and share how the day's message had touched and motivated them.
The "I LIVE INSPIRED" community was born.
